Yo Philly! Believe us, we feel your pain. Nine of us (8 girls, 1 guy) were laid off on the same day from the same place.
Although days are filled with frustrating job searches and bank accounts are a little sad, some of us are trying to look at the wine glass as being half full! Well, actually, our wine glasses are always full but you know what we mean. Anyway, Unemployed And The City is a place for Philadelphia to brainstorm, vent and inspire. Basically...unemployment survival in the city.
So, whether you have a great site for a job search (does that exist right now?), some interviewing insight (if you are lucky enough to even get one these days. ugh.) or a cheap place to head out or order in for dinner (there must be somewhere in Philly!), please share the wealth!! Let me first say that I'm not a blogger, and it's on rare occasion that I'll visit anyone's blog when they send me a link. But this right here is one damn good idea. You know why? Because, unlike most blogs, you're talking about things that REALLY matter to people who haven't had life handed to them on a silver platter. 5 women trying to survive in a harsh city. Unemployed? Check. High rent? Check. No health insurance? Check (for some of us). But we have each other, we have our brilliant minds and we have a stubborn will to succeed and have fun. We're fun hogs, and I'm sure most women in the city are. So thanks for getting this started!
